MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

I am an artist, an author, a USAF veteran, and an educator. I’m from NYC and I’ve traveled extensively both while I was in the military (not so nice places) and for my career as a photographer (very nice places).

I began my career in art in 2011 and made the transition to full time artist in 2015. I’ve never looked back. When I started TASA it was to help a handful of friends grow their businesses through the lessons I learned along the way. Since then, it’s become a major part of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Now, I live in Seattle in my studio/loft where I teach my cat, Fury, new bad habits and find novel ways to reach art collectors every day.

Watch my TED Talk, Beautiful Things That Are Gone

In this inspiring and humorous talk, Jason Matias shares how he went from Airman to Artist and how those transitions have shaped his life. Jason shares his experiences as he photographed beautiful landscapes that, today, are gone and what it means to him to cherish a memory. Jason is a professional artist and the founder of The Art of Selling Art where he teaches the business mindset and skills to artists. He is a United States Air Force Veteran and holds a (useless) masters degree in Organizational Leadership. He creates through the lens of “Comfortable Isolation,” where the spaces he seeks represent the mental environment and isolation people need to find within themselves in order to grow into the person they want to become. His work can be found in Seattle, Miami, and New York. Jason Matias is a veteran, an entrepreneur, a visual artist and a writer. Through his art he has witnessed a world in transition. Fate has claimed some of the most beautiful and intimate places he’s captured. Through his medium Jason has learned what it means to call a thing beautiful and what it means to cherish a memory. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
